    BRIEF BIO:

I have been teaching in Long Hill since 2001. I worked as a 2nd grade teacher at Millington School from 2001 - 2016. I am excited to join the 1st grade team this year. Prior to joining the Long Hill team, I taught 2nd grade in Elizabeth, NJ. I received my BA in Early Childhood Education and a BA in English from Kean University. I then went on to receive my MA in Early Childhood Education also at Kean University. I am also a published writer for the magazine The Mailbox (a publication for teachers).

On a personal note, I am the proud mother of twins. I enjoy photography, music and traveling. I am a Yankee and Jet fan and I love the Olympics (both summer and winter). My favorite author is Dr. Seuss.

    HOW TO REACH ME:

I welcome and encourage open communication with all parents. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that may arise throughout the year. I will always get back to you in the timeliest manner possible.

The best way to reach me is via e-mail sholzinger “(@)” longhill.org

I check my e-mail several times a day so this is the best way to reach me. Of course I can also be reached by phone before and after school at 908-647-2313. If there is an emergency that requires an immediate response, please contact the main office.

You may also send in a note with your child or jot me a note in your child’s assignment pad.

    EXPECTATIONS:

I expect that students will come to class each day ready to learn and prepared for the day. I expect students to be respectful and kind towards each other so that we can maintain an environment that is safe, happy, and enriching.

I will do my best to encourage and foster in my students a strong work ethic, responsibility, creativity, and enthusiasm towards learning. My goal is for each student to enjoy and celebrate their successes and milestones throughout the year while they grow and develop both academically and personally.
