    Welcome to Millington School!   It is our hope that you will find our school to be a warm and nurturing learning environment for all students.  Millington School is a true community of learning which includes students, teachers and parents working together. 
     
    I would like to introduce you to our new Dean of Students.  Ms. Melissa Backer comes to us from Dunellen. She was a guidance counselor and is experienced with HIB, I&RS as well as state testing. She will be continuing to support the teachers with the Morning Meeting program.  This program allows for the teachers to create a community of learners within their classroom and helps to support social and emotional well being. 
     
    This year we are happy to begin the Fundamentals of Reading program through School Wide.  This program is based on the Reader's Workshop model.  The teachers in grades 3-5 had extensive training and will continue to be trained throughout the year.  We are very focused on extensive Literacy Instruction and will continue to monitor student reading levels at all grade levels with Guided Reading.   
     
     
    Our staff is committed to working with the students.  Please feel free to contact the teacher(s) with any questions.  The home and school connection plays such a vital role in student achievement.  We are all looking forward to a wonderful school year!
